Full closure of the monument: civil engineering work in Braunschweig from December 9th!

Major civil engineering work is scheduled to take place in the city of Braunschweig from December 9th, which will significantly impact traffic in the Am Monument area. How regionalheute.de reported, the road between Osterbergstrasse and Am Wendenturm will be completely closed during construction work. This measure is part of a planned project by Stadtentwasserung Braunschweig GmbH (SEBS), which was started on November 10th. The aim of the work is to lay a new sewage pressure pipe and is expected to last until December 19th.

For drivers, this means: Access to the Am Monument street from Osterbergstraße will not be possible during the entire closure. Fortunately, access to the Am Monument street remains from Gifhorner Straße. Traffic from Am Wendenturm street to Am Monument street also remains open, which ensures accessibility to the adjacent shopping center.

More construction plans in the new year

A further construction phase, planned between Am Monument and Gifhorner Straße, is expected to start in January 2026. SEBS will inform residents in good time in advance about the details of the upcoming work. In order to minimize inconvenience for residents and road users, the city administration will provide all necessary information to ensure optimal diversions.

While the construction work is unavoidable, it is expected that it will contribute to improving the infrastructure in Braunschweig in the long term. The city is in constant dialogue with residents to ensure that the situation is clearly communicated during the work and that all transitions go as smoothly as possible.

If you have any questions or suggestions, interested citizens and road users can contact SEBS directly to receive further information and to maintain contact with the city administration. If you want to keep up to date with the start of construction and the progress of the work, you will find all relevant news on the city's official channels.
