€100,000 for new motorhome parking space inaugurated in Sains!
In Sains, a charming community in Brittany, a new motorhome parking area opened its doors on August 30, 2025. With a total budget of 100,000 euros, the renovation was only made possible through lengthy discussions and budget blockages in the local council. The position has existed since 2018, but management has now been handed over to Camping-Car Park, a national network of parking spaces. This decision is intended to improve monitoring of vehicles and regulate their use.
Mayor Nicolas Bathellier is optimistic about the innovations. “It’s a winning bet,” said the mayor. He points out that the old site was in deficit and emphasizes that the modernization is intended to stimulate local trade and tourism. However, the fees for the parking spaces have doubled: from 6 euros to 12 euros for 24 hours. Despite possible skepticism from the local trade community, Bathellier is convinced that the many travelers will stimulate the community's economy.
A moving market
Camping is a real hit in France and an important part of tourism. According to pole-implantation-tourisme.org, there are more than 8,000 campsites across the country. Around 30 million travelers spend their holidays in these places every year, including 30% international guests from countries such as Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Demand is unbroken and the camping sector continues to grow. With a forecast market size of 1.443 billion euros in 2025, which is expected to increase to 2.042 billion euros by 2030, it is clear that the trend towards camping is continuously increasing, especially among families and nature lovers. Not only do the camps offer a variety of experiences, but there is also an ever-increasing demand for eco-friendly and sustainable accommodation.
A future with perspective
Statista describes that in France alone the number of visitors will continue to increase and expects the number of users to increase to around 11.687 million by 2030. This broad increase reflects a shift in holiday habits, with luxury forms of camping known as “glamping” becoming increasingly popular.
The implementation of initiatives such as those now taking place in Sains can not only benefit the community itself, but also demonstrate how local management decisions and investments in infrastructure can meet the growing challenges and expectations of a modern tourism market.
The fresh revitalization of the campsite in Sains is not just a local project, but part of a larger trend that is shaping the many facets of camping in France and can also be observed in other regions.
