Bossuyt misses out on bronze at exciting cycling world championships!

On October 25, 2025, the cycling world experienced exciting competitions at the World Track Cycling Championships. There was a thrilling thriller for the medals, especially in the women's omnium. Marion Borras from France prevailed successfully and landed in a brilliant first place with 127 points. Her compatriot rival Amalie Dideriksen followed close behind with 120 points. Dideriksen, who was already world champion in 2016, is characterized by her sprinting skills and strong performances in other competitions, which she will bring to the Cofidis team, which is strengthening itself with impressive new additions, including Borras herself as well as the Italian climber Nadia Quagliotto and the experienced Slovenian Eugenia Bujak.

The track championship competitions so far have been extremely exciting for Borras. In the first three rounds she showed consistently strong performances and took third place each time. Before the decisive points race, she was in second place and was only two points behind favorite Lorena Wiebes. Ultimately, it was Wiebes who won the opening race (scratch) and the elimination race, collecting a total of 110 points. At this point, Borras had 108 points. However, Jessica Roberts from Great Britain, who won the pace race, was unable to collect enough points to be at the top of the overall ranking.

Cofidis strengthens the women's team

The Cofidis team has strengthened itself for the coming season with four new drivers. In addition to Amalie Dideriksen, Marion Borras, who has concentrated intensively on track cycling for the last eight years, will now also compete on the road for the team. Borras, who recently finished third at the French individual time trial championships, is showing promising form and could be a valuable support to Victoire Berteau and Valentine Fortin in the spring classics.

Dideriksen's successor in the sprint area will be the Italian Quagliotto, known for her climbing skills and strong performances in classic races. Bujak not only brings her experience, but also the will to support the team in individual victories. It will be interesting to see how the team performs next season under the new squad.

Memories of the Women's World Championships

Back to the track: The results at the World Championships show the high status of women's sport, which has developed enormously since the first official road races in the 1950s. Future cyclists will be inspired by the records and achievements of the past, which include great riders like Marianne Vos and Jeannie Longo. This heritage and the rise of women's sport creates an exciting stage for events to come, especially with major events such as the Olympics on the horizon.

The cycling fans can rejoice - the pursuit of Borras and Dideriksen on the streets and tracks will not be the last major appearance of these athletes.
