Festival summer in Celle: Meret Becker & Maxjoseph enchant the Stechbahn!

On Friday, June 27, 2025, a very special event takes place in Celle: the "Festival on the Square". From 5:00 p.m., the Stechbahn becomes a stage for an exciting program that illuminates the connection between science and art. The focus is on texts from Daniel Kehlmann's celebrated novel "The Measurement of the World", which revolves around the scientist Alexander von Humboldt, who researched the earth in the 18th century. As reports Celler Presse, the actress Meret Becker, known from "Babylon Berlin" and the Berlin crime scene, will take over the reading.

The evening promises not only captivating texts, but also musical highlights. The ensemble Maxjoseph will play with a mixture of chamber music, folk music, jazz and classical music. The band that came together at the Munich University of Music brings instruments such as tuba, guitar, violin and the Styrian harmonica. Your selection includes pieces from the albums "Tabula Rasa" and "Nau" - a musical journey of a special kind that will certainly inspire the audience. The event is supported by the Lower Saxony Sparkassenstiftung and the VGH Foundation, which honor the event for the event, the 25th birthday of the VGH Foundation and the 275th anniversary of the VGH Insurance.

A free admission that opens the hearts

The best of this event? Admission is free and no registration is required. So everyone who is interested in the exciting combination of literature and music can simply drop by and enjoy the evening. So you can sit comfortably and experience the fascinating stories and sounds under the open sky. The event is also supported by the city of Celle, the VGH Regional Directorate Celle and the Sparkasse Celle-Gifhorn-Wolfsburg.

But what makes Humboldt and his work so special? As described [Tagesspiegel] (https://www.tagesspiegel.de/kultur/wer-war-alexander-von-humboldt- 4598533.html), Humboldt was not only a productive scientist, but also a traveler whose expedition spirit led him over 15,000 kilometers. His explorations and the multitude of letters he wrote show that he was a tireless researcher. Kehlmann's book, which is still very popular 13 years after his first appearance, impressively expresses this facet Humboldts.

BECKER, who has already received various prices for her acting achievements, will make a tribute to Humboldt and his lively heir on stage with the ensemble Maxjoseph on stage. The reading and the music promise to take the audience on a journey through space and time, and all of this on an atmospheric summer day in Celle.

an event that should not be missed- both for literature and music lovers. Further information is available on the official website of the festival at Festival-aufmplatz.de.
