Take part and win: Survey on working conditions in animal husbandry!
In the Celle district, agricultural workers are offered a unique opportunity to actively participate in shaping their working conditions. The Construction-Agrar-Environment Industrial Union (IG BAU) invites all employees and trainees in animal husbandry to take part in a nationwide survey. The questionnaire, which can be easily answered via smartphone, tablet or computer, will be made available online until September 14th. Those interested should plan around 15 minutes to answer. Anonymity is guaranteed so that no one can track who gave which answers. For every participation you will also receive four Engelbert Strauss vouchers worth 50 euros, which is an additional incentive to take part. Check out the survey directly www.peco-ev.de, How Celle press reported.
The survey is specifically designed to examine working conditions in animal husbandry and identify potential for improvement. Under the project name “Changing livestock farming: Sustainable working environments from the perspective of employees”, the study focuses on various aspects that shape the lives of farmers and their employees. Issues such as wages, working hours and stress are the focus. In particular, occupational safety and the sometimes strenuous 7-day weeks, which are not uncommon in the industry, are discussed.
Challenges of animal husbandry
The chronicle of this initiative is primarily due to the fact that agricultural employment is increasing rapidly, while research into their working conditions is lagging behind. More and more people are working on farms, but there is little information about how they are really doing and what problems they encounter in everyday life. The weekly newspaper highlights that it is therefore important to hear employees' views on existing working conditions and the upcoming changes.
Additional challenges arise from the effects of climate change on agriculture and the work that has to be done on a daily basis. The standard of hygiene, animal protection and care in the stable is of central importance. The survey will help document employees' perspectives and bring the fundamental issues to the table. The results will ultimately be prepared and made available in a report, which could make an important contribution to improving conditions.
Employees and trainees in animal breeding and husbandry who identify with the topic are cordially invited to take part in this study. The contact person for all questions about the survey is Christa Gotter, who can be reached at christa.gotter(at)peco-ev.de. Further details about the survey can be found at PECO.
