New development area Auf dem Heuberg”: Habighorst is slowly growing!
An exciting development is emerging in Habighorst, a small town in the Celle district with almost 800 inhabitants. Michele Riedel and Melanie Arndt, who live on the outskirts with their three children and two dogs, have decided to build an age-appropriate bungalow on the street “Auf dem Heuberg”. This is not only a step into your own four walls, but also a sign that the village idyll of Habighorst remains a popular place to live. Loud Celle newspaper The municipality of Eschede is planning to expand the “Auf dem Heuberg” development area by 17 additional properties over the next ten years.
To support this project, the municipality of Eschede has already released 15,000 euros for the planning costs. Mayor Heinrich Lange supports the development, but warns that growth in small villages like Habighorst is limited to about 5% over the next decade. There are currently five non-binding expressions of interest for the building area in the town hall, which shows that there is certainly interest in new construction projects. However, things are different in the neighboring villages of Scharnhorst and Endeholz - there is currently no great need for new building space there.
A piece of history
Habighorst has an eventful past that dates back to 1291, when the place was mentioned in documents as Havichhorst. In the 15th century it was even the ancestral home of the von Habighorst ministerial family. A feudal document from 1427 mentions Luderus Havichors and several farmsteads. Georg Ernest von Melvill, who received the manor in 1702, was another influential personality. This historical depth makes Habighorst not only a beautiful place to live, but also a place with a lot of character and tradition, like our-habighorst.de documented.
However, developments in the region are not without challenges. The district plans to modernize spatial planning and development plans in order to control settlement pressure in rural areas. A dialogue with the communities should be promoted so that a common line can be found on permitted developments. Local mayor Marc Dornbusch would like to get the construction project off the ground quickly in order not only to support the initiative of the Riedel and Arndt families, but also to offer potential interested parties for the construction area a perspective.
The history of Habighorst is complex and ranges from potash mining in the early 20th century to housing planning in the 1950s. All of this makes for a lively and dynamic place that is constantly changing. So it remains to be seen how the village idyll will develop under the pressure of new construction projects.
