Flashlight on speed offenders: speed checks in Oldenburg!

In the coming days, things will get serious for drivers in the Oldenburg district and the city of Delmenhorst: June 16th marks the start of extensive speed camera checks that are being carried out specifically to reduce speeding and avoid accidents. This initiative is supported by the police and is intended to protect vulnerable road users in particular. The environment also benefits: noise and other harmful influences should be reduced by adhering to speed limits. The first checks will take place on Monday District newspaper reported.

The official measuring points have been set for the entire week: On Monday, for example, there will be flashlights in Steinloge, Wildeshauser Straße, while on Tuesday the school route in Heide and on Wednesday Grüppenbührener Straße in Bookhorn will be examined. Thursday brings checks in Sandkrug, Bümmersteder Straße, and at the end of the week there will be measurements on Friday in Falkenburg, Hauptstraße. The speed cameras are also active in Delmenhorst and monitor Moorkampstrasse and Leipziger Weg, among other places. Red light monitoring at various intersections in Delmenhorst is also on the agenda, including Friedrich-Ebert-Allee and Hasporter Damm/Berliner Straße.

Week full of checks

There will probably be no respite after June 20th: the police have announced that additional speed cameras can also be expected in undisclosed locations. Anyone traveling in the region should be vigilant and strictly adhere to the speed limits. This is particularly true near schools, daycare centers and retirement homes, where the safety of all road users should be the top priority.

The objective of these controls, which are also carried out as part of a supra-regional speed camera marathon, is clear: to reduce speed and thus also traffic accidents. Again NDR reported, Lower Saxony recorded almost 8,500 speeding violations out of 253,000 vehicles checked in March. This shows that there is also a need for action in the Oldenburg and Delmenhorst region.

The political strategy and its successes

The police use various strategies for these checks. Among other things, it focuses on the proximity of schools and bicycle paths in order to avoid dangerous situations for children and other cyclists. In addition, around 200 additional emergency services are on duty to increase road safety and raise awareness among the population.

Anyone who does not adhere to the speed limits will face notices and fines. The way to increase road safety is not only a question of the law, but also a responsibility of each individual. A good knack for handling your own vehicle can not only reduce your own costs, but also save lives.

Around 172,000 people live in the Oldenburg district, and especially here, where speed and traffic safety should go hand in hand, everyone is encouraged to do their part. Speed cameras are a necessary tool to make roads safer and prevent accidents. So, open your eyes and step on the gas – for a safe journey in Oldenburg and Delmenhorst.
