Delmenhorst reports zero new infections – hope in the fight against Corona!
The Corona situation in Germany remains largely stable. Today, June 16, 2025, no new infections were reported in the city of Delmenhorst compared to the previous day. In the last week there was not a single case, which pushes the 7-day incidence to 0.0 per 100,000 inhabitants. The total number of people who tested positive in Delmenhorst now amounts to 37,841 News.de reported.
But the picture in Lower Saxony does not show any dramatic changes either: no new infections were reported here either. The 7-day incidence is 0.4 per 100,000 inhabitants. However, we should keep an eye on the entire situation, because three new deaths were recorded nationwide and the total number of people who tested positive in Lower Saxony rises to 3,930,942.
Distribution by age group
An exciting aspect of the infection data concerns the age groups: the 35 to 59 age group is particularly affected with 1,526,437 cases. On the other hand, the youngest people between 0 and 4 years old with 108,519 cases and those between 5 and 14 years old with 432,887 cases also recorded high numbers. With regard to the overall distribution in Lower Saxony, there is a clear trend that we should not ignore.
| Age group | Case numbers |
|---|---|
| 0-04 years | 108,519 (27.97%) |
| 05-14 years | 432,887 (56.09%) |
| 15-34 years | 1,132,203 (61.76%) |
| 35-59 years | 1,526,437 (56.26%) |
| 60-79 years | 537,372 (29.27%) |
| 80+ years | 179,726 (30.03%) |
Another point that should be taken into account is the newly discovered Corona variant Nimbus (NB.1.8.1), which has come into focus since January 2025. The WHO classified this variant as a “variant under observation” in May 2025. So far there is no evidence that it leads to more severe disease progression.
Vaccination rates remain high
The vaccination rate in Germany shows encouraging values. According to current data, 76.3% of the population is basic immunized, which corresponds to over 63 million people. The proportion of people who have been vaccinated at least once is now 77.9% - that is around 64.8 million (as of April 8, 2023). These positive figures speak for the success of the vaccination campaign in recent months.
With its dashboard, known as [VacMap](https://www.rki.de/DE/Themen/Infection Diseases/Impfen/Impfquoten/VacMap/vacmap.html), the Robert Koch Institute offers a clear representation and analysis of vaccination rates in order to specifically identify vaccination gaps. This not only benefits those involved in vaccination prevention, but also strengthens general health awareness among the population.
Overall, things are still looking good in Germany as we monitor the development of the new variants. The numbers show that society is well prepared to overcome possible challenges. However, it remains important to be vigilant and continue to monitor the health of our fellow citizens.
