Brüder Schlau GmbH, known for its Hammer hardware store chain, filed for self-administration insolvency at the end of June 2025. This is reported by the Weser courier. All Hammer specialist stores, which have a total of over 180 locations, remain open and delivery capacity remains intact. Renovation with personal responsibility

Managing Director Dr. Yorck Tilman Streitbörger has decided to push ahead with the restructuring with a clear plan, without an insolvency administrator taking over the business. This is done under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dirk Andres, who was appointed as administrator by the Bielefeld District Court. He will support the management while protecting the interests of the creditors.
How on Streitbörger can be read, the preservation of around 3,900 jobs up to and including August 2025 is secured by the insolvency money from the Federal Employment Agency.
