Handball is coming back to life in Delmenhorst! On November 3rd, 2025, HSG Delmenhorst was able to celebrate a much-needed victory in the Handball Oberliga Nord. With a narrow 35:33 win against Wilhelmshavener HV II, the Delmenhorst team secured important points in the relegation battle. The home team showed their skills right from the start of the game and took the lead with an impressive 4-1 lead in the ninth minute and 7-1 in the 15th minute. The pressure was high, and coach Jonas Meißner's boys knew that they had to make no excuses in order to stay in touch. Weser-Kurier reports that Delmenhorst was ahead 15:11 at halftime.
The second half started excitingly as Wilhelmshaven got within 18:20. But Delmenhorst kept up the pressure and was able to pull ahead 27:21 until the 48th minute. In the final minutes, Jörn Janßen, who was successful twice from the seven-meter point in this match, and his teammates Tolck and Stadtsholte ensured that the lead was saved until the end. Wilhelmshaven pushed for an equalizer in the final phase and reduced the score to 30:32 in the 58th minute. But the Delmenhorster victory was deserved and necessary in order not to sink into the bottom of the table. They are now in ninth place with 5:7 points.
