Jakob Hetz celebrates dominance at the German Championships in Delmenhorst

There was a lot of excitement at the German Field Archery Championships in Delmenhorst. Defending champion Jakob Hetz (BCS Reuth) competed in the recurve men's competition and was able to successfully defend his title. He scored an impressive 386 rings and beat Sebastian Kutheius (SuSC Müllenborn) with a lead of 30 rings. Hetz was pleased with his victory: “It was good training for the upcoming European Championships in Ksiaz-Walbrzych, which takes place from September 15th to 20th,” he said the German Rifle Association reported.

Unfortunately, Felix Wieser (Tacherting) had to withdraw due to illness, which made it easier for Hetz to win. Strong archers also competed in the women's category. Bianca Speicher (Burgschützen Büschfeld) fought for second place, while Daniela Klesmann (SGes Bempflingen) completed the podium in third place. Particularly noteworthy is Svenja Herrmann's (ASC Göttingen) winning of her first title with 340 rings and a gap of ten rings ahead of her fellow competitors.

Achievements in different classes

In the compound class, Julia Böhnke (TV Meßkirch) left no doubt with 399 rings and secured first place with a lead of six rings over Mascha Heins (SV Anderlingen). Henning Lüpkemann (SV Loccum) celebrated a new record by continuing his eight-year title reign with 416 rings. This extraordinary performance brought him victory again and 11 rings ahead of Peter Tröger (BCS Reuth).

The performances of the blank bow shooters were also impressive: Kai Meyer (Archery Delmenhorst) and Ulrike Koini (Altenkirchener BoSch 1990) won their categories with comfortable margins. Koini, who has been active in archery for over 30 years, was particularly pleased with her title. The youth recurve class brought another outstanding moment with the dominance of Frida Janke (BSSC Olympia), who won by 42 rings over Balint Zavaschi (Archers TSV Natternberg).

Surprises and future challenges

Markus Höck (BS Sittenbach) achieved a real surprise victory in the Compound Master class. After being in last place at the beginning, he still prevailed with 390 rings and distanced Jens Asbach (BSC Nidderau) by two rings. In addition, Germany can look back on a proud record at European championships: a total of 36 medals have been won so far, with archers able to shine with 1 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze in Munich in 2022 em-bogen.de reported.

The future of German archery looks promising with the European Championships 2024 in Essen, which will take place from May 5th to 12th, already in the starting blocks. There is great anticipation of similar successes to those of previous years. The aim is to achieve further success before the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, while Germany is considered one of the most successful nations at European Championships. The archers are very popular on the international scene and will continue to show top performances bogen100.de determines.
