Youth festival in Delmenhorst: Together against racism and war!
On Saturday, June 28th, an eventful youth festival will take place in Delmenhorst that will send a clear message against racism and war. From 3:30 p.m. the youth department of the Association of Workers and Young People from Turkey invites you to the town hall square. The festival has the motto “Together for our future – youth against racism and war” and aims to promote awareness of social issues and social engagement among young people. A diverse program is offered that includes both musical and creative performances. Rappers Philrio, Lil Rush and Chinyere, among others, will perform, while the Beuss dance school will heat up the atmosphere with a live performance.
There is plenty of entertainment on offer: various offerings such as delicious food, refreshing drinks, screen printing, henna tattoos and a photo booth - all with free entry. The festival not only offers a space for fun, but also a platform for important social issues.
A youth festival for everyone
At the same time, another youth festival will also take place in Oberursel on June 28th, with the motto “Celebrating democracy, shaping and enjoying diversity”. Young people between the ages of 12 and 21 are invited to experience democracy up close and actively shape it in Rushmoorpark from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. The festival, which was originally started as a youth reception, is organized by the Oberursel Youth Council and is supported by the city administration. It is also aimed at a broad target group and offers many hands-on activities and discussion groups.
There will also be a varied program there, including a “marketplace of diversity” for local clubs and groups. Guests can look forward to creative contributions, moderations by Rico Montero from Heartbeat Edutainment as well as speeches from City Councilor Lothar Köhler and Mayor Antje Runge.
Platform for youth culture and engagement
Both events reflect the trend towards increasing focus on youth culture and socio-political commitment. The RISE platform, which is dedicated to youth culture, media education and democracy, plays an important role. Over 40 films on socio-political topics were produced as part of the RISE model project. In addition, materials for educational work are available that cover topics such as gender, social criticism and racism. Such projects not only raise awareness among the young generation, but also show how they can actively contribute to their own future.
Overall, both festivals not only offer entertainment, but also make a valuable contribution to social discourse about racism, democracy and diversity. Those responsible hope that many young people will take the opportunity to become part of these important initiatives.
