Buy one more! Fundraising campaign in Delmenhorst for people and animals
A special campaign will be launched in Delmenhorst on December 13th under the motto “Buy one more!” stands. The Delmenhorster Liste voter community invites all citizens to buy an extra piece of food and donate it at the Inkoop on Oldenburger Straße between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The collected shelf life, such as pasta, rice, canned goods and animal feed, benefits the Delmenhorst Tafel and the Delmenhorst Animal Welfare Association. This was revealed in a recent report by Weser courier announced.
The chairwoman of the Delmenhorster List, Bettina Oestermann, emphasizes the importance of this campaign in economically tense times. “Right now, many people in our city need support, be it for their own household or for their animal companions,” says Oestermann. This initiative not only sends a signal of solidarity, but also offers the opportunity to actively help and improve the lives of those in need in a small way.
Helpful donations
Participants are asked to donate non-perishable food and everyday products. Recommended articles include:
- Nudeln
- Reis
- Konserven
- Kaffee
- Süßwaren
The food is handed over directly to Tafel Delmenhorst and the animal welfare association where it is needed. Such commitment is a reminder of the global challenges that many people face. According to that DRK Around 735 million people will be affected by hunger in 2022. These numbers illustrate the urgency of relief efforts such as “Buy one more!”.
The need to become active in one's own community is particularly visible here. In its projects around the world, the DRK ensures that people are supplied with food and drinking water and pursues long-term projects for food security. This makes it clear to us how important it is to provide help not only globally, but also locally.
A place of remembrance and education
Delmenhorst not only has social challenges, but also a rich history. The city has many important historical sites, such as the city church of the Holy Trinity, which was built in 1789, or the town hall, built in 1908 and designed by the Bremen architect Heinz Stoffregen. Both the former synagogue, built in 1927/28 and destroyed by the National Socialists in 1938, and the old Nordwolle combing factory, which was built in 1884, are important witnesses to Delmenhorst's history.
Social cohesion and historical sites combine to form strong roots for the city of Delmenhorst. The planned campaign “Buy one more!” is not only a call to support those in need, but also an invitation to show yourself as part of a vibrant community. By making a contribution, citizens are able to go along part of the way and support others in need.
