Night of the applicants: Delmenhorst trainee fair inspires 800 young people!

On Wednesday evening, an event took place at the Volksbank headquarters on Mühlenstrasse that was of great interest to many young people: the “Night of the Applicants”. Diese bereits etablierte Messe, die heuer in die zehnte Runde ging, zog zwischen 600 und 800 Besucher an. School leavers who are looking for training and study places in particular got their money's worth here. The event was organized by the Volksbank Oldenburg-Land Delmenhorst in collaboration with the Delmenhorst Economic Development Agency.

This year, 24 different exhibitors presented themselves, including well-known companies such as the Bundeswehr and the Lürssen shipyard. Atlas GmbH, the health and welfare professional association, the Delmenhorst tax office as well as Lebenshilfe and the police station were also represented. The young people had the opportunity to find out about numerous career paths and training opportunities. The event not only offered information stands about the professions, but also a supporting program that ranged from free application photos to styling offers from the hairdressing team Philip Seven Hairdesign.

Instructive insights and practical tips

Between the stands, the young visitors were able to gain valuable experience and exchange ideas with their peers. A highlight was the skill game with an excavator, which was organized by Ernst Petershagen. In addition, Staff Sergeant Sandra Hantelmann gave interesting insights into career paths in the Bundeswehr. Another practical tip for the young people: There were specific rules of conduct for application photos, such as neat clothing, a well-groomed hairstyle and subtle make-up. Clothes with creases or bright colors would not have fit here.

The success of this event is no coincidence. Such trade fairs help enormously, especially in times when it is important to collect information about training opportunities at an early stage. According to the Federal Employment Agency Potential trainees should ideally apply up to a year before the start of their training. You can also search for a training position via your own networks, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) or via online platforms such as Indeed or LinkedIn.

The way into the future

Whether through personal contacts or through events such as Applicants' Night - there are many options for finding the right training position. The event once again showed that a good hand when selecting training places is crucial. This also emphasizes the importance of applying early and proactively seeking information. The career information centers of the Federal Employment Agency offer events all year round that also help to expand one's own network and improve opportunities on the training market.

Overall, the Applicants' Night remains an important event in Delmenhorst that not only has a tradition, but also always brings a breath of fresh air into the search for training positions. The event could also be seen for the first time in Wildeshausen in May 2023, which further increases the reach and influence of the trade fair. A look at today's educational landscape clearly shows that anyone who actively looks for opportunities will find them.
