On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, an accident occurred in Delmenhorst at around 2:30 p.m., which affected a 62-year-old Pedelec driver. The man was on theLittle Key Streetwas traveling in the direction of Ludwig-Kaufmann-Straße when he crossed into oncoming traffic on a curve and collided with the vehicle of a 54-year-old driver from Ganderkesee. Fortunately, the driver was uninjured, while the Pedelec driver fell in the collision and sustained minor injuries. He was taken to an area hospital in an ambulance.
The police estimated the damage to the woman's car at around4,000 euros. The accident once again illustrates the challenges that cyclists, especially Pedelec users, face in road traffic. This type of bike is very popular, but it also comes with certain risks. 2024 was a year in which an increasing number of cyclists had fatal accidents, especially older people over 65 years of age who often ride Pedelecs.
