Something is happening in Delmenhorst: St. Marien Church and the surrounding communities are presenting an exciting summer program that combines the tried and tested with a breath of fresh air. From July 9, 2025, those interested can explore the region's churches from new perspectives. The reason for this action? “So that the summer holidays don’t get too boring,” say the organizers.

Enthusiasts can look forward to varied discovery tours that are designed with particular focuses. Animals and a look at Maria become the theme of the tours, among other things. The first tour starts on Wednesday, July 9th, at 10 a.m. at St. Bernhard Church in Bookholzberg. Here Pastor Norbert Lach will lead the participants through the historic walls.

The tours at a glance

St. Mary's Church in Delmenhorst will open its doors for another tour on Saturday, July 12th at 10 a.m. Sexton Norbert Wübbelt will invite guests on an exciting journey up to the bells in the church tower. There are also fascinating insights into the mechanics of the tower clock and the beautiful vaulted ceiling of the church. Anyone wishing to take part should wear sturdy shoes and practical clothing in order to fully enjoy the tour.

• Vierte Tour: 31. Juli, 17.30 Uhr, St.-Marien-Kirche, Thema: Maria, geleitet von Pastoralreferentin Marianne Etrich.
• Abschluss: 9. August, 15 Uhr, Orgel-Entdeckungstour, geleitet von Kirchenmusiker Udo Honnigfort.

All tours are free and open to all age groups. The meeting point for the tours is at the entrance to St. Mary's Church.
