From September 23rd to 25th, construction work will take place on the train line between Bremen and Osnabrück, which will particularly affect the RB 58 regional train line. During this period, train traffic will be affected by the organization of replacement buses, as Weser-Kurier informs.

Overview of the construction work

A quick look into the past shows that train traffic was already affected in July. Track work also took place on the RB 58 line on July 15th and 16th. On these days, buses were used between Bremen and Wildeshausen as well as Bremen and Delmenhorst, as reported by mein-bremen.net. Back then, too, bicycles were not allowed, which may have caused dissatisfaction among many travelers.

NordWestBahn has taken responsibility for implementing these replacement services and emphasizes that, despite all care, errors in providing the information cannot be ruled out. Travelers should therefore keep an eye on the specific departure times to avoid unpleasant surprises.

A look at the numbers

The average figures show that the volume of rail replacement services in Germany has more than doubled since 2019. There are currently around 2,300 trips per day that are coordinated by the SEV control center in Berlin. DB Regio works with around 3,500 bus companies and covered a total of an impressive 24 million kilometers with replacement services in 2023. The very flexible and comprehensive network is necessary to maintain a reliable connection despite the temporary restrictions on the rails.

For all those who would like to travel during the period mentioned, we recommend visiting the NordWestBahn remote locations and websites such as bahn.de and fahrplaner.de to find out about the current timetable and the most important information.
