On June 17, 2025, a woman from Wolfenbüttel who goes by the name Saskia went on a very special trip. Thanks to the Wish Car, an initiative whose mission is to give people in hospices precious and unforgettable moments, she was able to travel with her loved ones to her place of power, the Tankumsee in the Gifhorn district. News38 reports that this trip was not only the fulfillment of a wish, but also a trip down memory lane for Saskia, who thought back to past visits to the lake with her family.

Saskia was supported during the day by Maja and Pascal, who volunteer on the Wish Car team. They experienced emotional moments together, which were rounded off with a traditional picnic basket. Not only was there food, there was also laughter and chatting. The trip ended with a delicious ice cream before we finally went back to the hospice. For Saskia it was the best day she had had in a long time, a little bit of joy in life made possible by the dedicated helpers.

Help where it is needed most

The wish car relies on the support of volunteers who want to help seriously ill people. The ASB Münsterland, the project sponsor, is particularly looking for people with nursing knowledge or medical qualifications. Be it specialists, paramedics or doctors – everyone can help by helping to look after passengers or organize excursions.

Anyone who would like to volunteer can decide for themselves how much time they can invest. There are no fixed guidelines for donating time, which gives many volunteers the opportunity to volunteer flexibly. In addition, regular training courses are offered to prepare the helpers for their tasks, from request requests to carrying out the dream trips to specific medical instructions on the technology and medical devices of the dream car.

In order to continue to realize the valuable moments that the Wish Car makes possible, donations are urgently needed. Loud Wish car it is no longer necessary to send donation receipts for amounts up to 300 euros; instead, booking confirmations from your bank details are sufficient. This simplification makes giving even more accessible. In addition to the required information, such as name, account number and amount, electronic confirmation can also be used.

Through such measures and the tireless commitment of the volunteers, the wish car will be able to continue to fulfill its important service: giving people in the last phases of life valuable memories and making their wishes come true.
