Orchid Cup 2025: Brilliant victories and new partnerships in Celle!

On July 22, 2025, the Herzogstadt Celle Golf Club in Garßen shone even more at this year's Orchideen Cup, a long-standing tradition in Celle golf. With 62 participants, including 21 players from different clubs, the field came alive and offered exciting competitions in a beautiful setting.

The main sponsor of the event was Sparkasse Celle-Gifhorn-Wolfsburg, while the company Orchideen Wichmann acted as co-sponsor. The tournament was played in the Chapman foursome format with stableford, over a total of 18 holes. The event was organized by the dedicated women's team under the leadership of Ladies Captain Hilke Benkhofer, who was actively supported by game director Martin Fröhlich. The well-maintained Am Beukenbusch facility and the culinary delicacies of the club's restaurants made the day a real celebration for golf enthusiasts.

Strong players and exciting placements

The gross winners of the Orchid Cup were Kerstin Grotzer and Johanna Plasa, who achieved first place with their impressive game. Heike Rachner and Andrea Falk followed in second place and Monika Kawe and Dineke Zimmerling in third place. In net class A, for players with a handicap of up to 45.5, Sabine Fröhlich and Jeanette Feller secured victory. Renate Hiestermann and Ute Harnau as well as Bettina Schmidt-Kuhl and Anja Koppenhöfer were also able to enjoy top places. In net class B (HCP from 45.6) Ute Fieweger and Ursula Hoffmanns were the winners, followed by Bärbel Otterdahl and Ines Strupat-Frieg as well as Christina Liedtke and Marlies Ventker.

The award ceremony took place in a festive setting, with Hilke Benkhofer duly recognizing all the winners. In his speech, club president Jürgen Gärtner emphasized the importance of the Orchid Cup for club life and cell golf, which is sustainably promoted through such events.

The open week at the golf club

With a view to future events, the Herzogstadt Celle Golf Club is holding its Open Week for the 28th time from July 24th to 31st. The special thing about it: All golf enthusiasts, whether members or guests, have the opportunity to take part. In addition to the already fully booked Orchid Cup, a total of five different tournaments are on the program. This includes the women's tournament, which will be held on July 26th.

Another highlight is the “Frieling Finanz Vierer” with 108 players, which is also fully occupied. There are also registration options for the “Wittinger/Ritzenhoff Cup” tournaments on July 24th, the “Golf House Cup” on July 27th and the “Harz and Heide Tournament” on July 29th. Anyone who would like to take part should register as soon as possible to secure their place.

With over 90 registrations in advance, it is clear that golf is very popular as a popular sport in the region and that the golf club has a good hand in this area. In August, the facility is also expecting another highlight event, the German Championship for Left-Handed Golfers, which will further enrich the diverse range of sports on offer in Celle.
