Drunken driving in the Gifhorn district: Police take tough action!
On October 12, 2025, the police in the Gifhorn district uncovered several drunken drives. The checks were carried out in various locations and the results show worrying levels of drug and alcohol consumption on the roads.
A 46-year-old driver of a moped was noticed on Moorstrasse in Isenbüttel. Abnormalities quickly pointed to an impairment caused by narcotics. An initial preliminary test confirmed the suspicion and the driver was taken to the clinic to have a blood sample taken to obtain more precise results. Drug consumption in road traffic not only endangers one's own abilities, but also the safety of all road users, as ADAC emphasizes.
Drunk drivers under control
The controls were not limited to drugs. In Müden, on Bahnhofstrasse, a 50-year-old Hyundai driver from Hohne was stopped. Here the police quickly became certain through the smell of alcohol. An alcohol test carried out showed a high 1.43 per mille, which immediately led to the confiscation of the driver's license and the taking of a blood sample.
But that wasn't all. Another driver, only 22 years old and checked on Breite Straße, had also consumed alcohol. With a blood alcohol level of 0.36, he should actually have stayed below the limit of 0.0 because he is still on probation. This driver could now also face sanctions such as a fine and an advanced seminar.
A clear call for vigilance
The cases illustrate the applicable laws, which can result in the suspension of a driver's license and even up to five years in prison if convicted of a criminal offense if drug or alcohol abuse is committed. ADAC warns that even the smallest amounts of drugs in the blood are already banned and reminds that although cannabis can be legal under certain conditions, driving under its influence remains clearly prohibited.
The police checks in the Gifhorn district show once again how important it is to remain vigilant and to be aware of your own responsibility in road traffic. The ADAC is calling for increased education and rigorous controls to reduce dangerous behavior on the roads. Traffic safety should always be number one on the agenda because everyone has the right to a carefree journey.
