Full closure in Calberlah: road construction work starts on July 21st!
From July 21, 2025, the roundabout in Calberlah will become a construction site. The road construction work to renovate the asphalt pavement is necessary to ensure traffic safety and to make the road shine in new splendor. How regionalheute.de reported, the project not only includes milling away the old road surface, but also redesigning the road markings and paving work. The total costs for this project amount to around 150,000 euros.
The roundabout is expected to be completely closed for the duration of the work, which is expected to last until August 5, 2025. Access to the Netto market is then exclusively via Sachsenweg, Schusterkamp and Windmühlenweg. In addition, a bollard in Sachsenweg will be removed to allow passage, while residents of the municipal roads Bergstücken, Forstlandring, Windmühlenweg and Schusterkamp will have to accept a diversion.
Important detours at a glance
The construction work will result in some diversions that are relevant for road users. Here is an overview:
- Von Calberlah nach Edesbüttel: über L292 Allerbüttel zur L321 über Wettmershagen, Allenbüttel zur K69.
- Von Calberlah nach Wasbüttel: über L292 nach Isenbüttel, dann K67 nach Wasbüttel.
- Von Edesbüttel nach Wasbüttel: über L321 Wedelheine, K64, über Ohnhorst nach Wasbüttel.
In addition, a change will also be necessary for the next highlight of the week, the kindergarten operation in the Christ daycare center. This is not accessible at the roundabout from July 21st to 27th; From July 28th, however, the facility can be accessed via Mecklenburger Straße again.
Varied construction work
The city of Gifhorn has also made it clear that there will be no complete closure of the entire junction during the summer holidays. Astrid Behrens, deputy head of the civil engineering department, explains that thanks to the clever planning, the main axis of Calberlaher Damm remains free throughout. As soon as the civil engineering work on the west side begins, traffic will be routed in one lane through the half-finished roundabout, supported by traffic lights. The clay path will remain closed until further notice.
As far as future steps are concerned, the installation of the new asphalt surface course is scheduled for the autumn holidays. During this phase, the entire junction will be fully closed, which will pose further restrictions for road users.
The Gifhorn district asks all citizens to understand the resulting disabilities and recommends that they pay close attention to the information on planning boards in order to reach their destination safely and quickly. kurt-gifhorn.de highlights the need for this work to improve the infrastructure in the long term.
