VW Caddy on fire: driver can just escape!

A shocking event happened on Saturday, July 12th, on An der Hätze street in the Gifhorn district. A 48-year-old man from Müden started his VW Caddy when flames suddenly burst out of the engine compartment. The driver reacted quickly and jumped out of the vehicle before serious damage could occur. He immediately alerted the fire department, who arrived in time to prevent anything worse from happening.

The Müden-Dieckhorst volunteer fire department was on site with nine emergency services, led by local fire chief Christian Meyer. Unfortunately, the fire brigade only arrived in time to contain the flames, which had already completely engulfed the front of the Caddy. With heavy respiratory protection and the use of firefighting foam, the fire was quickly extinguished, but it was too late for the vehicle - it suffered a total loss with estimated damages of around 5,000 euros. The police suspect that a technical defect is responsible for the fire, but the exact cause remains unclear, as regionalheute.de reports.
