Big citizens' breakfast in Göttingen: celebrate and enjoy community!
On Sunday, June 22, 2025, the eagerly awaited citizens' breakfast of the Göttingen Community Foundation took place at the Johanniskirchhof in Göttingen. Around 750 people gathered to have breakfast together and celebrate togetherness. The organizers, led by Siegfried Lieske, chairman of the community foundation, were pleased with the high number of guests. Diana Fischer from the community foundation emphasized that the smooth process was particularly thanks to the commitment of the volunteers. The positive mood among the visitors was noticeable and shows what is possible in the community.
With a richly laid breakfast table, the guests' hunger was not only satisfied, but also raised for the region. If you wanted, you could reserve a breakfast basket in advance - vegetarian options were also available. For those who had brought their own breakfast, take-away was allowed without any problems. This flexibility was well received because many visitors came with friends, neighbors and family to exchange ideas and enjoy together in a relaxed atmosphere. [Göttingen.de reported].
Colorful program for young and old
While the guests attended breakfast, the band “The Waggon Wheels” provided musical entertainment. Children were able to let off steam in the lovingly designed play area while the adults discussed the various offers. A highlight was the raffle with attractive prizes, which was supported by seat bookings and sponsorship money. The famous Gänseliesel and the mini-Gänseliesel also stopped by and made children's eyes shine. The event not only focused on exchange, but also pursued the important goal of supporting young people: the proceeds go to supporting projects for children and young people in Göttingen.
In her speech, Mayor Petra Broistedt praised the community foundation's initiatives and the importance of such gatherings for social interaction. Other prominent guests, including Mayor Onyeka Oshionwu as well as members of state and federal parliament, also took the opportunity to stop by and give the event a special touch. The Göttingen Tageblatt highlights how Such events contribute to strengthening the community.
For the visitors, the citizens' breakfast was a complete success, strengthening cohesion in the city and promoting awareness of local initiatives. Not only stomachs were filled, but also hearts - and thanks to the commitment of everyone involved, the day was fondly remembered by the people of Göttingen.
