SCW Göttingen is crowned tournament winner at the 3rd DiT Cup!

Last Saturday the sports festival for FC Grone's over-32 men's teams was held in Göttingen, which will go down in history as the 3rd DiT Cup. SCW Göttingen won the title and beat TSV Nesselröden 4-1 in the exciting final. This was an impressive victory that demonstrated the creativity and skill of the Göttingen team.

A total of eight teams competed in the tournament, which were filtered into two preliminary round groups. After some thrilling encounters, four teams made it to the quarter-finals, while SG Niedernjesa was unfortunately eliminated in the preliminary round. The REWE team, which was made up of employees and sponsors of the REWE JUNIORCUP, won the small final. They defeated SG Lenglern/Harste 2-1 and secured third place.

Great atmosphere in Göttingen

The SCW Göttingen was not only able to celebrate the tournament victory; Dimitrios Avdoulidis was also named best player of the tournament. The event was well attended and the spectators got their money's worth: their physical well-being was catered for with bratwursts, Krakauers, fries and hamburgers that you could serve yourself. Well-chilled drinks from the Einbeck brewery rounded off the offer. Despite the festive atmosphere, there were also downsides, as Sparta Göttingen didn't show up despite registering and SSV Nörten-Hardenberg canceled at short notice.

The DiT Cup is another example of the flourishing old men's scene, which is also supported by the German Old Men's Supercup Ü32 and other tournaments are supported. This important event takes place in Schneverdingen and attracts over 40 teams, which impressively shows the high level of interest in over-32 football.

The German Altherren Supercup Ü32

The German Old Men's Supercup is considered the unofficial German championship in old men's football. Participants must be over the age limit of 32, although younger players (30 and over) are also allowed to take part. The over-32 team of FC Empor Weimar 06 is taking part in a partnership with Vimaria Weimar as a replacement and already has its group opponents: Grimmener SV from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, SV Altengamme from Hamburg, TSG Hofherrnweiler from Württemberg and TV Jahn Schneverdingen from Lower Saxony.

Gunther Vorkaufer is organizing the journey for his team, who will begin the journey in the team bus and shared hotel rooms. The tournament starts on June 18, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. and promises exciting encounters in a lively atmosphere.

The enthusiasm for old men's football is unbroken and is evident not only in the tournaments, but also in the regular game rounds. The FVN-Ü32 played on small pitches, ensuring exciting matches and numerous goals. Further information about the regulations and game procedures can be found on the Altherren website.

Football fever among the over-32 teams remains high – both in Göttingen and in Schneverdingen. It will be interesting to see what stories the coming season has in store!
