Eintracht Braunschweig: New coach and strong assistant coaching team!
Eintracht Braunschweig has hired a new head coach, Heiner Backhaus, who will bring a breath of fresh air into the team. The 43-year-old is moving from Alemannia Aachen to the traditional club and is inheriting Daniel Scherning, from whom the club parted ways after the end of the second division season. Not without reason, after all, Marc Pfitzner, who took over the reins in the relegation game against 1. FC Saarbrücken on an interim basis, secured relegation and left a positive impression.
“Heiner Backhaus is exactly the right coach for Eintracht Braunschweig,” says managing director Benjamin Kessel, who emphasizes the commitment of the former player, who was active in Germany and international leagues such as Saudi Arabia, Malta, Cyprus and Hong Kong. Backhaus signed a contract until June 30, 2027 and not only brings with him plenty of experience from six coaching positions, but also the necessary feel for the challenges of the second Bundesliga.
Experienced coaching team
With Backhaus, there is a coach on the sidelines who not only led his team into the third division, but also ensured relegation there. Marc Pfitzner will continue to act as assistant coach and has already completed the DFB Pro license course together with Backhaus. Marcel Goslar, who has been active for Eintracht since summer 2021, will also remain on board as an assistant coach and has extended his contract. Most recently he was responsible for the video analysis.
New to the coaching team is Julius Schell, who has also been hired as an assistant coach with a focus on video analysis. Schell previously worked under Backhaus at Alemannia Aachen and had to end his active career early due to a knee injury. With the reinforcements in the coaching staff, Eintracht Braunschweig is relying on experienced people who have the potential to further develop the team.
A strong coaching team
“Julius and Jasmin are already having a positive impact on the team and the coaching staff,” emphasizes Benjamin Kessel. Jasmin Fejzic, a former professional, retains his role in the coaching team and is responsible, among other things, for goalkeeper training. This ensemble-like line-up is intended to ensure that Eintracht goes into the coming season well prepared.
The start of the new season could show whether the decision to sign Heiner Backhaus was the right step. The goals are clear and with a strong coaching team behind them, Eintracht Braunschweig wants to exploit its potential and build on old successes. The next games will show whether it succeeds.
