Experience inclusion: day of action in Goslar with exciting activities!

On Saturday, June 28, 2025, an exciting information and action day entitled "Inclusion in everyday life" takes place in Goslar. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Jakobikirchhof becomes the scene for all interested citizens, regardless of age or impairment. The event is organized by the inclusion advisory board for the district of Goslar, which is actively committed to an inclusive environment. Regionalheute reports that the event will offer numerous activities that should raise awareness of inclusion.

Some interesting programs stand out among the offers. Visitors have the opportunity to try out an age simulation suit in order to understand the challenges of older people. In addition, wheelchair tours are offered to experience the experience of barriers in everyday life up close. The exchange with deaf about their everyday experiences is also on the program. So that the little visitors get their money's worth, there is a child make-up offer-here everything is thought of!

Cooperation for inclusion

The event takes place in cooperation with several partners, including the Deaf Association of Lower Saxony and the Alzheimer's Group. The Lower Saxony (SPN) senior and care center of the Goslar district is also actively involved. This collaboration shows how important it is to network different organizations in order to promote inclusion in society.

But what does inclusion really mean in our everyday life? According to a study, around 13 million people with impairments live in Germany who are often hindered by barriers in their everyday life. Whether in local public transport, when visiting the doctor or when accessing leisure activities such as museums and cinemas - there are still hurdles everywhere. The Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs emphasizes that accessibility not only people with disabilities, but also other groups, such as older people or families with children, benefits.

A recently adopted coalition agreement provides for a decisive way to advance measures for accessibility. The Federal Government has decided on the cornerstones for the "Federal Initiative Barrier Freedom", which includes legislative measures, barrier -free mobility and a barrier -free healthcare system. The focus is on public relations and sensitization - it is time that accessibility in society is anchored as an important topic.

accessibility in public transport

A particularly urgent topic is accessibility in local public transport (public transport). It was legally provided that public transport is barrier -free by January 1, 2022, but this goal has not yet been achieved. The Lebenshilfe reports that this is a major hurdle, especially for people with intellectual disabilities. On-demand mobility offers have also fallen under the accessibility rules since August 1, 2021, but many problems have not yet solved.

Another step in the right direction is the legal regulation on accessibility for taxis. From a fleet of 20 vehicles, at least 5 % must be barrier -free. This point also affects new on-demand mobility offers. The efforts to improve accessibility are diverse, but the path is still wide.
