Goslar honors Sven Regener with the new Golden Tone” music prize!

There is reason to be happy in the city of Goslar! In 2025, the newly named “Golden Tone” music prize will be awarded here for the first time. Who better could this prestigious award go to than the versatile artist Sven Regener? The singer and author belongs with his band Element of Crime to the German music landscape and has been delighting his audiences for decades.

The evening on November 1st will be particularly exciting when Regener will be officially honored. The director Leander Haussmann will give the laudatory speech. Haußmann has already worked closely with Regener in the past, for example on the film adaptation of Regener's timeless novel "Herr Lehmann", which was published in 2001. The film, which was released in cinemas in 2003, deals with the fall of the Berlin Wall and is a must for every fan of German film art.

A poet of a special kind

The jury describes Sven Regener as a “poetic expert in ironic-laconic tenderness”. This appreciation gets to the heart of what sets Regener apart as an artist: his ability to transform profound thoughts into sensitive texts. He became known not only for his band, which produced hits such as “Delmenhorst” and “Am Ende ich immer ich nur die Dich”, but also for a series of novels, including “Neue Vahr Süd” and “Der kleine Bruder”, which captivate readers.

But the artist's commitment goes beyond music and literature. Regener was originally supposed to receive the “Paul Lincke Ring” in 2024, but he insisted that the namesake’s Nazi past be addressed, which underlines his integrative stance.

An artist with history

Regener, born on January 1, 1961 in Bremen, grew up in the Neue Vahr. He began his creative career by learning instruments such as guitar and trumpet in his youth and founded Element of Crime in 1985. In addition to music, he has also published numerous novels that have earned him a high reputation. His biography is permeated by a clear attitude in which he often supports art and culture.

In addition to his musical career, Regener has also enriched the film world with his ideas. His script for “Herr Lehmann” was awarded the German Film Prize in Gold and shows how the stories he wrote can come to life on the screen. Regener is on the bestseller list with several works and thus inspires numerous readers.

As a member of PEN Berlin and through his involvement in cultural and political issues, Regener has enriched the German cultural scene. His daughter Alexandra is also part of this music world by taking part in Element of Crime and showing once again that art is often a family tradition.

The awarding of the “Golden Tone” to Sven Regener ushers in an era that shows how music and literature can go hand in hand. A beautiful thing for the city of Goslar and a truly rewarding festival that will certainly attract many interested people.
