New playground opened in Goslar: fun for the whole family!

In Goslar, in the picturesque Harz region, there was a reason to celebrate today: the new playground “Am Lindenplan” was officially opened! The city of Goslar has invested heavily in the future of the children and put a whopping 190,000 euros into the construction. Mayor Urte Schwerdtner and members of the city council cut the ribbon, opening a place that attracts families and makes children's hearts beat faster. Given its need for repairs, the old facility could no longer be relied upon much, which is why a complete redesign of the space became necessary.

Particularly noteworthy: the children from the area were able to actively participate in the planning. Their urgent desire for swings was heard by the decision-makers. The new playground is equipped with a variety of exciting play equipment, including a large climbing structure, a nest and double swing, spring seesaws, an in-ground trampoline, a sandpit and even a playground telephone. This makes the playground a great meeting place for children of all ages.

A mix of play and safety aspects

Nowadays, a real open-air adventure playground must also place emphasis on safety criteria: the new fall protection surfaces made from wood chips are a step in the right direction. Nevertheless, there were already voices on social media expressing concerns. Critics criticize, among other things, the safety of climbing due to the risk of slipping between the ropes and also question whether one should play on the wood chips barefoot, as this could be uncomfortable.

Further discussions arose about the need for rubbish bins, as some users pointed out the problem of pollution from dog feces and rubbish. But not everyone is skeptical - many are happy about the modern and attractive playground, which has the potential to become a popular meeting place for families.

The most important thing for the future: security

The importance of safety in playgrounds is also made clear by the new regulations, which will come into force from 2025. From this point onwards, national playground safety standards will be implemented more strictly. There have been a shocking 200,000 playground injuries in the United States in recent years, with many caused by sub-safety construction. Proactive compliance with the new guidelines could reduce the risk of accidents by up to 60%, which is of great importance for the new playground in Goslar.

The new standards require, among other things, annual third-party certifications and enable greater safety for children. Experts advise choosing the right location when planning, selecting appropriate materials and conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance. There really is something to be done to create a safe environment for the little ones!

The new playground “Am Lindenplan” will certainly bring a lot of joy – for both the little adventurers and the older companions. It will be exciting to see how the feedback develops and whether the desired trash cans will be installed soon. The issue of security will also be high on the agenda in the coming years.
