Last 100,000 euros for organ renovation in Hameln – help us!
Things get musical in Hamelin – and not just in the figurative sense. The “Klangwunder 2.0” fundraising campaign to renovate the large Beckerath-Goll organ in the St. Nicolai market church has gained considerable momentum in the last few months. The initiative, which aims to raise a total of 500,000 euros for the urgently needed renovation and a separate gaming table, has been running for over a year. So far, around 400,000 euros have already been raised, leaving around 100,000 euros still missing. The hope of those responsible, including Pastor Dr. Heike Köhler remains hopeful that the missing money can be raised to make this unique musical instrument sound again within a 50 kilometer radius. This reports dewezet.de.
The Beckerath-Goll organ itself is a true sound miracle with over 40 timbres and more than 2,500 pipes. She plays music from the Baroque to the present and is an important part of the musical landscape in Hamelin not only in church services, but also at numerous concerts. A comprehensive renovation of the organ is planned for 2025, and the community invites everyone to support the campaign to give the organ the breath of fresh air it needs. Further information is on the website klangwunder.wir-e.de to find.
A variety of events to support you
In order to reach the fundraising goal, the community has put together some exciting events. On August 1st, the “Dinner in White” invites you: participants bring their own food and, dressed in white, they enjoy subtle organ music. Registration is required and the participation fee goes directly towards organ renovation.
Another highlight will be “Organ Music on Thursdays”. Starting July 3rd, two organ concerts will take place every Thursday - a midday prayer at 12 p.m., followed by a 35-minute short concert at 6 p.m. Admission is free, but the community is asking for donations for renovation.
Creative fundraising ideas
There are around 50,000 organs in Germany, which are often found in churches. Most of them show signs of age, which is why communities often have problems finding the necessary financial resources for renovations. A variety of creative fundraising ideas could also be used in Hameln to generate donations. For example, organ concerts could highlight the beauty of the instrument and be used directly to solicit donations. Other possible promotions include sales promotions that offer branded products or services for the cause. Sponsorships for individual organ pipes are also popular.
Imagination and teamwork are the top priority in these measures in order to successfully collect money for the organ in Hameln that is worth preserving. More about this can be found on sonntagsblatt.de.
