The Scorpions rock Hanover: cheers to the band's 60th anniversary!

On July 6, 2025, the Scorpions celebrated a memorable anniversary concert in the sold-out Heinz von Heiden Arena in Hanover, which was organized to mark their 60th anniversary. Fans from all over the world, even from Brazil, gathered to see the rock legends in their hometown where it all began. The evening started with a bang: at 9:50 p.m. the singer Klaus Meine took the stage, who had to perform carefully after spinal surgery, but still demonstrated his vocal power.

The Scorpions, founded in 1965 by Rudolf Schenker in Sarstedt, are one of the most successful rock bands in the world with over 100 million records sold. The anniversary was one of the highlights of their ongoing “Rock Believer World Tour”, which has been delighting fans since 2022. The classics such as “The Zoo” and “Wind of Change”, which shaped the set list, will be particularly remembered. Special guests included Judas Priest and Alice Cooper, who provided additional amusement and added an extra sparkle to the evening.

An evening full of memories

The concert was not only a celebration for the current line-up, which includes Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker, Matthias Jabs, Paweł Mąciwoda and Mikkey Dee, but also for the former members. Ex-drummer Herman Rarebell was present and presented his memoirs, but he and other ex-band members were not invited to the stage. This decision came as the band is working on a new live album, which is due to be released before Christmas.

The setlist offered a colorful mix of hits that no one in the audience wanted to miss. The evening culminated in unforgettable songs such as “Still Loving You” and “Rock You Like A Hurricane”. Klaus Meine dedicated “Send Me An Angel” to his late friend Wolfgang Besemer, while the concert ended with a spectacular fireworks display.

Not just music, but also history

The Scorpions became famous for their historic live performances, including the first appearance by a Western rock band in China and the legendary concert at the Moscow Music Peace Festival in 1989. Their anthems such as “Wind of Change” are part of rock history and connect generations of fans.

In order to properly celebrate the anniversary, Deutsche Post set up a special counter for stamps for the band's anniversary. A sign of how important this event was for the Hanover region. If you wanted to relax between the songs, you could stay at the shooting festival nearby - a perfect end to an unforgettable night.

Overall, the Scorpions' anniversary concert was a highlight that fans will remember for years to come. In fact, a biographical film called Winds of Change will be released in 2025 to coincide with the band's 60th anniversary celebrations.
