Facade renovation: HCC shines in new splendor by 2026!
In the heart of Hanover, something exciting is happening! The Hanover Congress Centrum (HCC) starts with a comprehensive facade renovation of the historic town hall and the dome hall. This measure, which has been created for two years, includes the south and east facades of the striking building and is to be completed by 2026. hannover.de reports that the renovation is carried out in two stages. In 2025 there are the upper facade area in the south, which extends towards the city park, as well as the east side that looks at the Congress Hotel.
The first steps of the renovation work provide for the exchange of windows and doors on the southern ground floor and in the arcade area on the east side. In 2026, work on the southern flat roof is scheduled and other windows are also to be renewed. As a special highlight, the plaster in the area of the eastern arcades is also redesigned. The measure receives generous support of around 1.7 million euros from the federal funding program "Kulturinvest 2023", which was initiated by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media.
support from the federal government
The economic and environmental department Anja Ritschel is extremely pleased with the successful application and the associated recognition of the dome hall. "With these means we can get the cultural monument historical town hall in its full splendor," said Ritschel. HCC director Joachim König also thanks the state capital of Hanover for the additional support, because without these funds the implementation of the measures would not have been possible.
But not only the current renovation is important. In 2023, the Lower Saxony Hall received a fundamental renewal of the historical facade during the annual summer event break. This was designed to the basic renovation of the historical dome hall. The integrated terrace above the main entrance was lovingly restored and equipped for future use. In addition, the big flagpoles on the forecourt have experienced a refreshment, which contributes to the attractiveness of the historical building. This renewal was also supported with funding from the federal government, which shows how important the preservation of such important monuments is EVVC .
funding for monument protection
The funding that is available here benefit a wide range and extend across the entire federal territory. The aim is to preserve the cultural landscape, whereby smaller construction and craft businesses also benefit
Overall, the start of the facade renovation is an important step to let the historic town hall and the dome hall shine again in new splendor - a profit for the city and its citizens. It remains exciting how the work develops and the first progress can soon be admired.
