The first steps in the renovation work include replacing windows and doors on the southern ground floor and in the arcade area on the east side. Work on the southern flat roof is scheduled for 2026 and other windows will also be replaced. As a special highlight, the paving in the area of ​​the eastern arcades will also be redesigned. The measure receives generous support of around 1.7 million euros from the federal funding program “KulturInvest 2023”, which was initiated by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media.

Anja Ritschel, head of the economic and environmental department, is extremely pleased with the successful application and the associated recognition of the dome hall. “With these funds we can preserve the historical town hall cultural monument in its full splendor,” said Ritschel.
