Hanover gets going: 496th shooting festival is exciting from today!
In Hanover today it's time to raise the curtain for the 496th Schützenfest, which will enchant the city from July 4th to 13th, 2025! Preparations are in full swing to offer the expected 120,000 visitors an unforgettable experience. The festival promises a colorful mix of tradition, fun and exciting attractions that will appeal to the whole family. NDR is already reporting on the first highlights that await the guests.
The traditional rifle parade on Sunday, July 9th at 10 a.m. at the New Town Hall will be an absolute must. Over 5,000 musicians from more than 100 different music bands perform here, while around 20 magnificently decorated floats roll through the city center. The march stretches over an impressive 3.5 kilometers and will be broadcast live on NDR television, so that even those watching at home won't miss a second. To make the whole thing a true spectacle, 10,000 participants are expected - an event that is second to none!
A variety of attractions for every taste
The shooting festival in Hanover is really impressive with its 18 rides, including 11 children's rides and 3 running rides. Six new attractions such as the “Fun Alley” and the huge “Best XXL” swing are celebrating their premiere this year. With a breath of fresh air and a traditional atmosphere, the festival site will be a popular attraction for the whole family. A special highlight are the special events for children, such as the Punch and Judy show and colorful toy shops, which put a smile on the faces of younger visitors.
The large festival area of around 10 hectares will not only be peppered with rides, but also with culinary delicacies from over 200 showmen and women. From hearty dishes in the traditional “Alt Hanovera” and “Gaypeople Tent” tents to sweet treats, everyone will find what they are looking for here. In addition, a new event offering in the NP Rondell will delight visitors.
Security and feel-good atmosphere
Especially in times like these, security is very important. The organizers have put together a comprehensive security concept that includes, among other things, QR codes for safe spaces, a support team and retreat rooms so that all guests can feel comfortable. Security actors are available centrally at the Gilde Tor to always have an open ear if you have any questions or problems. We recommend using public transport to get there, and guarded bicycle parking spaces are available.
With a great family day on July 9th, where discounts of up to 50% are available on many attractions, and the diverse program, the shooting festival in Hanover is a big festival for young and old. The largest shooting festival in the world not only attracts with tradition and customs, but also with an unsurpassed range of rides and festival tents that is unique in its kind.
