Hildesheim Motorway Police: Counterfeits and drivers caught without a license!
The Hildesheim motorway police had their hands full on July 15, 2025, when they came across a broken down car in the construction area of the BAB 7 after the Hildesheim junction, in the direction of Hanover. The 24-year-old driver from Bad Pyrmont had to expect several unpleasant surprises when the police checked him. And for good reason: his driver's license turned out to be a total fake. As if that wasn't enough, he was also banned from driving vehicles that required a driver's license. The police are now investigating charges of driving without a license and forging documents, for which the young man now has to answer. This reports Hildesheim press.
The incident sheds light on another unpleasant phenomenon on the roads: fake driving licenses unfortunately seem to be on the rise, as another incident on Tuesday evening at 6.40 p.m. shows. A 31-year-old truck driver from the Northeim district was checked in the Ambergau parking lot. In this case, his driver's license, a Greek document, was also nothing but a forged piece of paper. Here, too, the police confiscated the driver's license and initiated criminal proceedings Hildesheimer Allgemeine reported.
Focus on overloads
The motorway police don't just have to struggle with forged driver's licenses. Overloading on the highway is also an issue that requires the attention of officials. On Tuesday evening at 7:17 p.m., a foreign car transporter was checked that was traveling between Bockenem and Derneburg in the direction of Hanover. The police discovered that the vehicle was overloaded by around one ton. The 38-year-old driver had to abandon his vehicle and could not continue driving because fine proceedings were initiated against him.
But that wasn't the only case of this kind. On Monday, another van driver with Polish license plates was checked at the Hildesheimer Börde gas station and rest area. Here too, the police found an overload of around one ton. In this case, too, fine proceedings were initiated and the driver had to unload or reload until the following day in order to be able to continue his journey.
