Three motorcycles and jewelry stolen: 19-year-old in custody!
A break-in in a workshop and a subsequent incident on the A2 motorway have caused excitement in the Hildesheim district in recent days. On the night of Thursday to Friday, June 20, 2025, perpetrators broke into a motor vehicle dealership in Diekholzen and stole a number of vehicles and accessories. The crime occurred between 7:00 p.m. and 7:55 a.m., and according to initial investigations, two motorcycles, a motor scooter, several bicycles and various motorcycle clothing were stolen, as Hildesheimer Presse reported.
On Friday morning, the Magdeburg police went out to check a van on the A2. To their surprise, they found stolen goods in the vehicle - a discovery that could be directly linked to the break-in in Diekholzen. The 19-year-old driver of the van was temporarily arrested and has been in custody since Saturday. At the request of the public prosecutor, the Hildesheim district court ordered detention and the driver was taken to a correctional facility. The suspect's seized vehicle will now also be part of the ongoing investigation.
Connection to another break-in in Magdeburg
The explosiveness of the current case is increased by another attempted break-in that occurred on May 20, 2025 in a single-family home in Stadtfeld-West, Magdeburg. During this incident, unknown perpetrators forcibly entered the house in broad daylight and searched it for valuables. Jewelry and personal documents were stolen. According to Presseportal, the federal police quickly noted a suspect, a 44-year-old man, who was arrested at Magdeburg main station with a manipulated e-bike.
During the check, police also found a plastic bag containing identification documents that did not match the man, as well as jewelry and tools that indicated a break-in. The suspect gave contradictory statements and tried to escape. Finally, an arrest warrant was issued against him and the investigation is continuing unchanged. Experts suspect that the two incidents may be related, adding additional complexity to the case.
The investigations in the Hildesheim and Magdeburg districts have not yet been completed, and the police are continuing to work on identifying the masterminds and possible other accomplices. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious observations to bring perpetrators to justice and ensure safety in affected areas.
