In a few days, on December 10, 2025, a very special cultural excursion is on the program: KULTURREISEN Kompakt Media is going to Hildesheim. The journey starts early in the morning at 8 a.m. at the Central Bus Station (ZOB) in Magdeburg, and the mood couldn't be better. Comfortably in a modern coach you travel along the A2 and A39 to the Lower Saxony city.

The journey is pleasant, with a planned break halfway, ideal for a coffee and toilet break. The travelers arrive in Hildesheim around 11 a.m. in a good mood, ready for an exciting program.

Cultural highlights of the trip

A highlight of the day is the city tour, which focuses particularly on the UNESCO World Heritage Site. St. Michael's Church, one of the main attractions, impresses with its unique wooden ceiling from the 13th century, which was saved and extensively restored during the Second World War. Despite the destruction, the church lost none of its characteristic features and is in an authentic condition, which gives it status as an important example of early Romanesque architecture. The cloisters of St. Mary's Cathedral have also been almost completely preserved, which makes the journey particularly attractive.

After the tour of the Romanesque St. Michael's Church, visitors can look forward to a one-hour tour of St. Mary's Cathedral. Here you can admire the extraordinary art treasures, which not only belong to the religious art of the Holy Roman Empire, but also enable a better understanding of Romanesque church architecture in the West. The two UNESCO World Heritage sites offer a fascinating insight into the religious and architectural history of the region.

Cozy get-togethers and free time

At 1:15 p.m. everyone is hungry, so we go to the “Wirtshaus im Kniep” at Marktstraße 4 for lunch. There you have the opportunity to enjoy regional specialties and review the successful program. After dinner, you have free time to stroll through the Hildesheim Christmas market or go on your own exploration tour of the charming city.

Unfortunately, at 4 p.m. it's time to say goodbye again. The return journey takes the group back to Magdeburg, where they are scheduled to arrive at the central bus station in the early evening.
