Railway renovated bridge: traffic turnaround from July 1st in the east of Uelzen!
Something is happening in the Hanseatic city: From July 1st, extensive bridge renovation work will begin on Bleckeder Landstrasse, which will at the same time result in a significant change in the traffic situation in the east of the city. The busy underpass will be closed to all road users during the entire construction period Uelzen press reported.
In order to channel diversion traffic, a detour will be set up for cars, pedestrians and cyclists towards the city center via Pulverweg and Dahlenburger Landstrasse. From the beginning of July, Dahlenburger Landstrasse will also be entering a new construction phase, in which the closure above Pulverweg will be gradually expanded.
Comprehensive diversion concept
The diversion concept was carefully developed to make traffic routing as smooth as possible during the various construction phases. The necessary traffic routes will begin to be set up from June 30th. During the entire construction period, two main traffic axes from the east of the city to the city center will remain in place: Bleckeder Landstrasse with Pulverweg and Theodor-Heuss-Strasse, which leads via Konrad-Adenauer-Strasse to the Friedrich-Ebert-Brücke.
A separate rescue lane will be marked out in Pulverweg for the rescue workers. However, this also means that there will be no parking spaces in this area. Parallel to these construction measures, Deutsche Bahn will begin the renovation of the Bleckeder Landstrasse railway overpass on July 1st, as part of its “Hamburg – Hanover Quality Offensive”.
Construction time and traffic restrictions
The construction work on Bleckeder Landstrasse and Dahlenburger Landstrasse is expected to last until the end of 2026. The German railway highlights that there will be temporary restrictions on rail traffic during the construction period, including rail replacement services.
Construction work for sewer and civil engineering work is planned to last around two years on Dahlenburger Landstrasse. These are necessary because the work is being carried out at a depth of up to six meters. From July 7th, Dahlenburger Landstrasse will be closed up to Schützenplatz.
Detours will be signposted on site, and residents can find out about the construction work and any restrictions via the Hanseatic city's WhatsApp messaging service.
Public transport and information
As the German railway emphasizes, it is important that residents and affected citizens remain informed about progress and changes. From the beginning of July, it will no longer be possible to leave the station via Bleckeder Landstrasse in an easterly direction. Instead, traffic will be available via Bahnhofstrasse and Dahlenburger Landstrasse, and all stops will be served as usual.
These changes are part of a gradual plan to modernize the rail network and improve infrastructure, ultimately benefiting all transport users. With the projects currently underway, the Hanseatic city is determined to sustainably improve the traffic situation and counteract future bottlenecks.
