Film dreams at Spitzingsee: Ben Blaskovic is planning a historical Alpine western!
Ben Blaskovic, 37-year-old actor and producer from Schliersee, is planning a very special film production: a historical Alpine western that will be shot on the picturesque Spitzingsee. The film is dedicated to the storm of the century of 1919 and Blaskovic is currently looking for financiers to realize this ambitious project. Again Mercury reports, film funding in Germany has recently thrown up a number of hurdles, which has made financing more difficult. Nevertheless, Blaskovic doesn't give up and has already written the script himself. In the main role he will play a Munich businessman who takes advantage of the plight of the people at Spitzingsee.
Blaskovic, born on November 14, 1988 in Tegernsee and raised in Schliersee, is a well-known face on German television. He has made a name for himself with roles in popular series such as “SOKO 5113”, “Bergdoktor” and “Rosenheim Cops”. From January 13, 2026 he can also be seen in the telenovela “Rote Rosen” as Ove Gustavson. He completed his acting training in Los Angeles in 2010 and has since been active in numerous productions, including international projects. Blaskovic has founded an American branch of his production company Victus Films and has already produced two films in the USA, including “Ba Ba Bound”, which will soon be shown at the Utah International Film Festival.
The challenges of film funding
In recent years, film funding in Germany has been increasingly influenced by the political framework. According to the FFA With the new guidelines, the German Film Fund (DFFF) increased the subsidies for films to 30% of the eligible German production costs. This could support Blaskovic in the realization of his “Spitzingsee” project, as such funding opportunities can be very interesting for producers. The only important thing is that applications are submitted in good time – ideally at least six weeks before filming begins.
Blaskovic not only has talented acting skills, but also a keen interest in sports and action. He is a passionate mountain climber, sailor and surfer and shows this commitment in his projects. He even founded his own sports events company and is a creative mind who incorporates his passions into his professional projects.
A look at the filmography
His filmography is extensive and diverse. Since 2009, Blaskovic has appeared in over 30 short films and has appeared regularly in television productions. He has also experienced interactive theater and worked as a musician. So it's fair to say that he has a good knack for different formats. In 2014 he was already seen as a court servant in the ZDF series “The Rosenheim Cops” and also appeared in the romantic film adaptations by Rosamunde Pilcher.
With his new projects, especially the historical Alpine western, Ben Blaskovic's acting career will certainly remain exciting for many film fans. Who knows, maybe in the near future we will see even more stories that bring life in the Upper Bavarian homeland to life!
