Young climate voices are rising: Lüneburg is becoming a conference stronghold!

What is currently very popular in Lüneburg is the upcoming Local Conference of Youth (LCOY), which will take place at Leuphana University from October 17th to 20th, 2025. This conference will be the largest climate conference in Europe organized by young people, with around 1,600 expected participants aged between 14 and 30. The event is organized by around 100 volunteers who have set themselves the goal of creating a platform for the voices of the young generation and incorporating their perspectives into climate policy. The program promises no boredom: over 200 workshops, panels and discussions on central topics such as climate justice, German climate policy and sustainable business are on the agenda. In addition to the serious topics, the “festival feeling” will not be neglected - music and dance events offer a welcome change from the discussion groups and workshops. [Youth strategy](https://jugendstrategie.de/ Veranstaltung/lcoy-2025-junge-klimakonzept-deutschland/) emphasizes that participants here not only learn, but can also actively participate in the discussion about climate change.

A platform for young voices

The LCOY not only aims to impart knowledge, but also offers valuable networking opportunities. Young people who are committed to climate protection have the chance to ask critical questions and make their own contribution. This initiative is part of a larger movement to increase youth participation in climate foreign policy. According to [BUNDjugend](https://www.bundjugend.de/projekte/klimaaussenpolitik-jugend participation/), this youth participation is supported by the exchange with the German government and aims to make the perspectives of young people visible in the climate protection discourse.

The engagement of young people in climate policy is promoted through the regular meetings of working groups, which take place both online and in person. Care is taken to ensure that central issues such as international climate finance and just transition do not fall out of focus. It is clear that the voices of young people not only need to be heard, but also taken seriously.

The look into the future

For those taking part in the LCOY, the question is not only which issues are most urgent, but also how they can actively contribute to solving the challenges. The conference could act as a springboard to further engage young people in climate action and give them the opportunity to present their ideas and solutions. It remains exciting to see what results emerge from the LCOY and how these will be taken into account in the upcoming climate negotiations.

The LCOY in Lüneburg is therefore an indispensable event for everyone who wants to work for the future of our planet - because there is really something going on here!
