An exciting duel took place on Sunday, September 10, 2025, in the U18 state league Lüneburg, when TSV St. Jürgen had to play away against SG Buxtehude/Altkloster. Coach Bremer's team not only showed commitment on the pitch, but also showed great morale as they overcame a 3-0 deficit and ended the game with a 3-3 draw. According to Weser-Kurier it was a real spectacle: First, the Jürgen team got into trouble after a mistake in the build-up to the game in the 31st minute backlog. Shortly before half-time the score was 3-0 after a dangerous counterattack by the hosts.

In the second half, however, the TSV St. Jürgen players showed their fighting spirit. Juan Carrillo scored the next goal in the 57th minute to make it 1:3, followed by Levin Hoffmann, who reduced the score to 2:3 just two minutes later. Finally, Maddox Döscher equalized in the 66th minute. Despite the exciting game, the Jürgen team were mobbed by disappointed spectators after the final whistle, which put the team and the coaches in distress.

Football is booming

What goes on in the background of club life is a general trend in German football. According to DFB, over 7.7 million people are already organized in football clubs. What is particularly notable is the increase in girls and referees, giving the sport a younger and more diverse face.

The number of registered player passes has increased by over 310,000, with almost 107,000 girls up to the age of 16 being newly registered. The numbers prove once again that the sport of football is on the rise and, above all, is growing in breadth.

The combination of sporting success such as the most recent game and active club work gives hope that enthusiasm for football in the region around Lilienthal will continue to grow. Whether in competition or in the leisure sector, TSV St. Jürgen is heading into the coming season with a breath of fresh air and great confidence.
