Suicide prevention: Now more help for those affected and their relatives!

September 11, 2025 is all about suicide prevention. In Germany and especially in northern Germany, on this day there is increased attention to the challenges that affect people in life crises. There are numerous offers of help that support people with suicidal thoughts or depression. This support can be provided anonymously, be it via telephone, email, chat or personal conversations. All conversations will of course be treated confidentially. Relatives of people at risk of suicide can also use these offers to receive help and information.

Diakonie, as one of the most important social organizations in Germany, is actively committed to suicide prevention. It not only offers psychiatric crisis services, but also telephone counseling that is available around the clock. “The aim of suicide prevention is to strengthen people’s dignity and improve their living conditions,” explains Diakonie. In times of crisis, reliable support is essential to avoid feelings of isolation. It becomes clear that even small gestures, such as simply listening and compassion, can make a big difference.
