Christmas is approaching and many companies are thinking about how they will send their greetings this year. The Caritas Reha and Participation Society (CRT) from Osnabrück made a special decision. In 2023, she decided not to send Christmas cards traditionally and instead sent a strong signal of solidarity. An amount of 1,000 euros was donated to the “FitKids” prevention project at the Osnabrück outpatient clinic. That's what she reports NOZ.

This decision aims to strengthen children from families affected by addiction. Such children often fall into the background and grow up under particularly stressful conditions. The “FitKids” project therefore not only promotes personal and social skills, but also creates safe and supportive experiences. A special feature of the project is horseback riding therapy, which provides emotional stability, self-confidence and movement experience. Managing director Günter Sandfort emphasizes the importance of the donation: “With this support, we want to set an example for solidarity and social responsibility,” says Sandfort.

A strong support offer

What exactly happens in the riding therapy of the “FitKids” program? Skilled workers do important work here. They help children to develop their emotional skills and at the same time to develop a certain joy of movement. Under the guidance of riding therapist Yvonne Kaufmann and Daniela Stuckenberg from the Caritas specialist outpatient clinic for addiction prevention, the young participants are not only taught how to ride, but also given a new kind of self-confidence. These aspects are particularly crucial in helping children discover their own strengths.

But “FitKids” is not the only project that focuses on addiction prevention. In Osnabrück, the specialist outpatient clinic is also involved in the coordination and networking of institutions and people who work in this sensitive area. Loud Caritas Fulda It is essential to create awareness of the development and prevention of addiction and to make this topic known in different living spaces. This also includes events and parents' evenings organized in schools and educational institutions.

The donation to “FitKids” not only provides short-term help, but also makes a long-term contribution to addiction prevention and strengthening social coexistence in the region. With its campaign, Caritas makes it clear that responsibility and solidarity should always come first every year, but especially at Christmas time.
