A general look at road safety in Germany shows that the numbers have been reduced in recent years, but accidents caused by motorcycles are still a big issue. Nevertheless, the number of injured motorcyclists remains alarmingly high, and it is apparent that younger motorcyclists in particular are often affected by serious accidents.

Education and improving safety

These incidents once again illustrate how important it is to further improve road safety. Both new educational campaigns and increased controls could help prevent accidents like those in Bohmte or elsewhere. Particular attention must be paid to the safety of two-wheeled drivers, especially on country roads where tractors are often used. It remains to be hoped that such tragic events can be avoided in the future.
