Corona standstill in the Peine district: No new infections!

In the Peine district, Lower Saxony, there is a remarkable silence regarding COVID-19 cases on August 10, 2025. According to the current figures from News.de, there were no new infections compared to the previous day and the 7-day incidence is 0.0 per 100,000 inhabitants. The overall picture shows that a total of 71,101 people in Peine have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic.

The situation in the intensive care units is also relaxed. Of the total of 6 available intensive care beds, only 2 are currently occupied, which means that 4 beds are still free. Interestingly, there are no COVID patients in the intensive care unit, which indicates a positive development.

The different age groups affected by infections are particularly striking: most cases occur among 15-34 year olds, followed by 35-59 year olds. These are exactly the age groups that like to be active and seek social contact.

New variant Nimbus

A new Corona variant called Nimbus (NB.1.8.1) was discovered in January 2025. According to an assessment by the WHO, it is currently classified as a “variant under observation”. Positively, there is so far no evidence of more severe disease that could be associated with this variant, which will hopefully provide some reassurance for people.

Vaccination rate in Lower Saxony

The vaccination campaign in Lower Saxony is still active. Identical to the general trends in Germany, it can be seen that 77.9% of the population has been vaccinated at least once, while 76.3% have received a complete basic vaccination. And that's good to know, because the more people are vaccinated, the better we can overcome the pandemic together.

If you look at the vaccination rate in a table, the distribution of the vaccine doses administered becomes clearly visible:

Vaccine Doses administered
Moderna 5,143,642
Biontech 46,595,520
AstraZeneca 9,272,833
Janssen 3,711,740
Novavax 72,005

With these current figures, we can tackle the next chapter of the pandemic together and hope that we will continue to do so well in the future. If you would like to find out more about these developments, you can find the information on News.de, Corona in numbers and Statista.
