Literary Awards 2025: These books are fighting for the prestigious awards!

What's new in the literary world? October 31, 2025 is just around the corner and will bring a breath of fresh air to the French literary scene. Every year in autumn, the most important literary prizes in France are awarded. This time, in her latest essay, Sylvie Ducas is pleased to report on the incredible number of over 2,000 literary prizes awarded annually in France. The season's outstanding prizes include the Goncourt, the Médicis and the Femina, all of which have their finger on the pulse of literary times. Telerama reports that the 2024 Goncourt went to the acclaimed work “Houris” by Kamel Daoud, while the Femina 2024 was awarded to “Au Rêve du Jaguar” by Miguel Bonnefoy. The Médicis also found its prizewinner in Julia Deck, whose book “Ann d’Angleterre” thrilled audiences and critics alike.

Now it's getting exciting! The first selected works for the 2025 prizes have been selected and promise to awaken the desire to read. For the Grand prix du Roman de l'Académie française, Yanick Lahens was awarded “Passagères de nuit”, while strong finalists such as “Un pont sur la Seine” by Pauline Dreyfus and “Le Crépuscule des hommes” by Alfred de Montesquiou are on display.
