New playground in Berkum: A paradise for little ones opens its doors!
Who would have thought that the small village of Berkum would make such great progress? The great new children's playground, which was renovated and redesigned as part of the Kanal-Fuhse-Region-West village development program, is now a real eye-catcher. After around two years of planning and construction, the children can finally run around on the new play equipment. The anticipation in the community is palpable, the playground has finally been opened up for the little explorers.
The newly designed playground is more than just a place to play. The design, which cleverly integrates the theme of the stream, is reflected in a wave-like asphalt path that brings a smile to children's hearts. This path also offers a play area for rolling, running and running around. The wooden mill, which sits enthroned in a large sandy area, is certainly the highlight of the playground. Here the children can climb and slide, which will make the place a popular destination for all families. The offer is complemented by a sand play area, a playhouse and numerous rest and seating areas, which create an overall package that offers both fun and relaxation.
Diverse possibilities
With a large lawn that serves as a ball playing area, the playground is not just suitable for the little ones. Festivals can also be held here - a wonderful addition to village life. A new water-connected path also ensures that access for strollers, bicycles and walkers has been significantly improved. This measure shows how important accessibility is for all generations.
The financial support for this future project also comes from not far away. 90 percent of the total costs of around 109,000 euros were funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. This is just one example of how the village development program is used as a central funding instrument in rural areas. According to Lower Saxony, twelve new village regions were included in the program, which further strengthens support for rural development. Lower Saxony reports that a total of 193 village regions with 798 villages are participating in the program.
The future in sight
The support of these initiatives shows the commitment of the village communities, who define their own development goals with creative ideas and a lot of heart. The funding can be up to 75 percent of public measures, which offers a great incentive for many small villages. The BMEL emphasizes how important active village communities are for shaping rural areas, especially when it comes to finding solutions to challenges such as the decline in population numbers and local supplies.
In Berkum, it's not just about having fun, but also strengthening the community. Despite all the challenges that rural areas bring with them, this project offers a ray of hope and shows how positive development is possible through commitment and financial support.
