Renovation of the Ellershausen through-road: Construction begins on July 7th!

Something is happening in Ellershausen, and it's happening big time! The renovation of the local thoroughfare will begin on July 7, 2025, a joint project set up by the Peine water association, the municipality of Niemetal and the Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Transport (NLStBV). This important measure is intended to sustainably secure the infrastructure in rural areas, as celler-presse.de reports. The work is expected to last until autumn 2026 and will be carried out in two construction phases.

In the first section, the area from the western entrance to the town to the junction to Bühren will be renovated. The second section includes road work up to the eastern exit of the town in the direction of Varlosen. Road users must expect diversions during construction work. These lead from Hemeln via the L 561 to Gimte in Hann. Münden and from there on the B 3 to Dransfeld and back again.

Scope of the renovation measures

The renovation measure includes, among other things, the dismantling of a bridge structure that was built in 1955. In its place, a modern culvert will be built to meet today's requirements. In addition, sidewalks and on-board facilities are being repaired, which is being done on behalf of the municipality of Niemetal. Another important point is the renovation of the sewers and the surface fittings of the drinking water supply.

The measure is no coincidence, as the challenges to the water supply in Lower Saxony are diverse. As Niedersachsen Umwelt reports, it is important to keep an eye on the increasing demand for water and the effects of climate change. An integrated water supply concept is of great importance here. It gives those responsible a basis for planning and helps to sustainably manage the pressure on groundwater.
