Revolutionary wind turbine in Lower Saxony: Modern freedom for residents!
Things are making good progress in terms of renewable energies in Lower Saxony! The reports on June 18, 2025 BRAUN Wind Turbines GmbH the successful installation of a new Antaris 12 kW wind turbine. This brings a breath of fresh air to the local energy supply and is very popular.
The sophisticated wind turbine was installed with a mast height of 12 meters. A special highlight of this technology is that it could be built without a building permit - a real win for the operators! In addition to wind power operation, the hybrid system is coupled with a photovoltaic system and is supported by an intelligent battery storage system. Remote monitoring and shutdown cannot be neglected either, which makes use safer and more efficient.
Financial benefits for residents
But it's not just the technology that impresses. The red-green state government has set itself the goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2040 and is therefore planning a new law that will increase the financial benefits for residents. NDR reports that residents within a 2.5 kilometer radius of newly built wind power and photovoltaic systems should benefit from various offers. This not only includes lower electricity prices, but also direct payments and the opportunity to participate in citizen energy cooperatives.
Through the planned law, municipalities should also benefit from future wind power projects. It stipulates that operators pay 0.1 cents per kilowatt hour fed in to residents, while the acceptance fee for municipalities is 0.2 cents. This means that annual income of around 30,000 euros can be generated per wind turbine. These funds should also be used for social projects, nature conservation or culture, which could increase acceptance among the population.
Lower Saxony remains a pioneer in the energy transition
Lower Saxony is already a leader in the generation of electricity from renewable energies. In 2023, more electricity was generated from renewables than was consumed for the first time - a groundbreaking success! Niedersachsen.de clarifies that the state government plans to significantly expand the area for wind turbines by 2032. Currently 2.2 percent of the country's area is available, and in the future up to 4 percent is to be used, which means a significant doubling.
It is therefore clear for the future: wind power still has a lot of potential. Whether residents, municipalities or operators – everyone can benefit from this development. With a good knack for sustainable projects, Lower Saxony sets standards for the entire Federal Republic. It remains exciting to see how the wind power landscape will continue to develop!
