A very special event will take place in the picturesque Kniestedt manor house in Salzgitter from August 22nd to 24th, 2025: a three-day stone sculpture course. Under the expert guidance of artist Holger Lassen, all creative minds have the chance to create their own limestone sculpture. This is not only an opportunity to learn the technique of stone processing, but also a wonderful opportunity to discover patience, perseverance and your own creativity.
The course, set in the lovingly landscaped garden of the 18th century manor house, is suitable for all ages and experience levels. Whether beginner or advanced – everyone is invited to get creative this weekend. Participants will be introduced to the secrets of stone carving, learning not only the art of tools and materials, but also how to transform their ideas into solid forms. Art and craftsmanship go hand in hand here, and the result is individual sculptures in figurative or free form.
Course framework and registration
The exact dates for the stone carving in the garden are: Friday, August 22nd, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The participation fee is 155 euros, including all necessary materials such as limestone. Tools and materials are also provided so that participants can concentrate fully on their creativity.
Participants are recommended to bring some personal items with them: hand brushes, mittens, work clothes, closed shoes and safety glasses are part of the list, and you should not forget to bring your own food. Registrations are required by August 12th at the latest and should be sent in writing to the Salzgitter Municipal Adult Education Center. Contact information is available on the organizer's website.
