Volkswagen reveals the secret of the new electric Polo: price and engine revealed!

Volkswagen presented a new compact car at the IAA in Munich that is intended to bring a breath of fresh air to the electric car scene: the ID. Polo. This car is expected to come onto the market next year and, with a price of around 25,000 euros, is not exactly cheap, but is certainly worth considering. The ID is powered. Polo is powered by an innovative permanent magnet synchronous motor, the APP290, which brings a lot of pressure to the roads with up to 160 kW of power and a torque of 290 Nm. Particularly exciting: the technology behind the motor uses a silicon carbide inverter developed by Volkswagen, which promises high efficiency.

When it comes to battery options, customers can choose from two variants. The first, a 56 kWh NMC battery, offers a range of up to 450 km. If you like it shorter, you can travel around 300 km with the LFP battery (38 kWh). What's impressive is that both batteries can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in under 25 minutes. Volkswagen is also highlighting the new MEB+ electrical modular system, which will be available for all ID. models from 2026. The batteries used for this are produced in Salzgitter, Valencia and St. Thomas in Canada.

The ID.2all: An electric small car for everyone

But that's not all Volkswagen is planning. A smaller electric car called ID.2all is also expected to arrive by 2026, which will cost less than 25,000 euros. This new small car will be around four meters long and will have space for five people. It will also score points with a trunk volume of up to 1,330 liters, making it the ideal companion for families. The ID.2all is based on the MEB Entry platform and is produced in Spain. Its design is strongly reminiscent of the Polo and has some technical highlights such as Travel Assist and IQ.Light.

VW CEO Thomas Schäfer has already made it clear that the company is undertaking a fundamental transformation towards e-mobility. A total of ten new electric models are expected to come onto the market by 2026, including an SUV and an electric Passat alternative. For everyone who likes to take an early look at what's to come, the series version of the ID.2all is already on the agenda for 2025, i.e. two years before sales start.

The ID.7 series sets new standards

Volkswagen is not only making improvements to the ID. Polo and ID.2all, but also presents the new top models of the ID.7 series: the ID.7 GTX Sedan and the ID.7 GTX Tourer. Both vehicles have an impressive system output of 250 kW (340 hp) and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds. The ID.7 GTX Tourer is actually the most powerful station wagon that Volkswagen has ever built.

These models have the electric 4MOTION all-wheel drive, which includes an electric motor on the front and rear axles. Expanded standard equipment provides additional comfort and safety features, including impressive 20-inch aluminum wheels and state-of-the-art LED matrix headlights. Volkswagen has once again shown that they are at the forefront of e-mobility.

The coming months promise exciting developments, not just for Volkswagen, but for the entire automotive industry. With the ID. With a close eye on Polo, the ID.2all and the new ID.7 models, we can look forward to an exciting time!
