Big packing campaign: Uelzen shows solidarity for needy Ukraine!

On December 5, 2025, the Uelzen town hall will become the central contact point for people with big hearts. Because this Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. there will be a public packing campaign by the Johanniter, which is specifically aimed at helping people in need in Ukraine and other countries. Nicole Klotz from the Johanniter Christmas Trucker team will lead the campaign, which combines tradition and solidarity in a difficult time. Mayor Jürgen Markwardt will also take an active part on this day and recognize the voluntary work of the many volunteers.

What should actually be in the packages? Supporters are called upon to bring essential food and hygiene items such as flour, pasta, rice, sugar, cooking oil, toothbrushes and paste, as well as small children's toys to the town hall. These packages are not only distributed to those in need in Germany, but also in Albania, Bosnia, Romania, Bulgaria, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, among others. Numerous people, including children, disabled people and elderly relatives, are waiting there for vital support. The aim is to alleviate suffering and give those affected hope. Uelzen press reports.

Background and objectives

The Johanniter have been calling for a packing campaign since November 15th to provide humanitarian aid to crisis areas and economically disadvantaged families in Germany. The difficult conditions in Ukraine, which have been made even worse by the ongoing war, make such actions almost indispensable. Max Müller, organizer of the Johanniter Christmas Truckers, points out that this type of support not only benefits those in need locally, but also provides important help in Germany. Because here in particular there are many people who live in precarious situations and are dependent on this type of support Johanniter.de informed.

The packages are not simply sent out; They go to proven partners in the many target countries who also pass on this help directly to those most affected. In Albania, for example, the packages are handed over to a monastery where old people and orphans are cared for. In Ukraine, the aid packages benefit needy families and war refugees. Help is also urgently needed in Bosnia, where many are still suffering from the after-effects of the war in the 1990s.

Humanitarian aid at a glance

The humanitarian aid organized by Johanniter corresponds to the central principles of humanity, neutrality and impartiality. It is important that help goes to where it is needed most and that no one is discriminated against when it comes to receiving support. This initiative complements the comprehensive efforts of German humanitarian aid measures, which were expanded to the tune of 2.7 billion euros in 2023. These contributions aim to give people in acute emergencies the opportunity to live in dignity and security and to improve their life prospects The Foreign Office clarifies.

The Johanniter team will continue to accept the collected packages until December 12th, with a convoy set to set off from Lower Saxony on Boxing Day towards a distribution center in Romania. The anticipation is great, the necessity of this action is obvious. Let us show solidarity together and bring hope to those in need!
